From time to time we receive information from external sources regarding gaming content and its suitability for children. Whilst we can't claim to be experts, we would like to share with you what we receive to raise awareness and enable you to undertake your own research.

Smartie The Penguin

Cyber safety for 3-7 year olds (ChildNet)

Follow the adventures of Smartie the Penguin as he learns how to be safe on the internet. This is a set of fun activities for younger children taking their first steps on the cyber highway.

The story of Smartie covers these three themes:

  • Pop ups and in app purchasing;
  • Inappropriate websites for older children and;
  • Cyberbullying.

Gun-Free Game Apps and Thought-Provoking Non Violent Games

For Children and Young People (Common Sense Media)

The US-based Common Sense Media organisation supports parents and their children’s use of the internet, social media, and gaming. They have searched through the currently available apps, and come up with a list of those that might be challenging and exciting, but don’t involve the use of guns or violence.
